Notes: (1715); 628 pp; folio; Good condition; leather bound with blind-stamped on front panel; five raised bands on spine; marbled endpapers; fore-edges of panels have decorative gilt; leather is cracking and rubbed on edges and panels; some chipping to edges of endpapers; hinges have been repaired; bookplate of former owner on front paste-down; staining to panels; there is foxing to most pages, but not obscuring text, darkening to edges of some pages; some generally discreet markings of former owner to pages; two additional sequences of pagination numbered in square brackets 5-6 and 109-114 have been inserted between pages 4 and 5 and 108-109, but text is continuous; Thoresby began his topography of Leeds in the 1690s and is credited with being its first historian; the book contains the pedigrees of the nobles and gentry; Thoresby also included a catalogue of his own museum collection of antiquities.
